Did you hear this story on late-time TV or did you read about it in the news?  I have to say that I have to give him credit for perseverance and his strong convictions, but this is a perfect example of just how discombobulated people have become over political beliefs.  When you are so upset that you would go to these lengths to make this kind of statement because you do not support the current President and his policies; you haven’t exactly thought through the possible consequences of your actions or you just don’t give a damn.

An Ohio man crashed a Jeep into a security perimeter and then jumped the fence at the White House because he wanted to spray-paint the Revolutionary War-era “Don’t Tread on Me” snake on the grounds, authorities said in court documents Tuesday.

The man, identified as Joseph Reel, 32, of Kettering, Ohio, was charged with destruction of government property after the incident in the predawn hours of Sunday.  Mr. Reel, who is a registered Republican, who voted in the November general election, went to elaborate lengths in his quest to breach White House security so he could leave behind his political message.  Reel told officers that he conducted “surveillance” of the White House complex on Saturday “looking for a way in.”

Sunday, about 3 a.m. EDT, he reportedly returned in a Jeep Patriot. He attached a wood block to the accelerator and set the vehicle on its way — unoccupied — ramming into a light post, a bicycle rack and a steel security bollard at 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, which is the northwest corner of the White House complex.  A short time later, Mr. Reel rode up on a bicycle and climbed over a fence at the north courtyard of the Old Executive Office Building, just west of the White House itself.

Officials stated that Mr. Reel wasn’t armed when he jumped the fence, but he was carrying a can of spray paint, which he dropped as he fled Secret Service agents. Investigators later found 200 rounds of ammunition, eight knives and two machetes in the Jeep, which caused about $1,000 in damage to the perimeter fencing.

Now just ponder the following:

First, he drives from his hometown, in Ohio, to the White House in Washington, DC.  If he drove Interstate 70, that is a 478 mile, an 8 hour drive.  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

He drives his Jeep Patriot, which goes along well with his “Revolutionary” theme; and places inside the vehicle, ammo and knives.  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

On Saturday, he spends the day conducting surveillance on the grounds of the White House.  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

He comes back in the middle of the night in Washington, DC (a city that you do not want to be out in, after dark.)  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?  Maybe, that is what the ammo and knives were for?

He then positions his Jeep Patriot to ram into a light post, a bicycle rack and a steel security bollard, as a diversion, which caused extensive damage to his vehicle.)  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

He now gets on a bicycle and rides a few 100 yards away and scales the perimeter fence, armed with a spray can.  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

He is now apprehended on the grounds of the White House, one of the most highly protected pieces of real estate in the United States.  At no time does he think to himself, this is a bad idea?

If you were planning to do this act of defiance or anarchy, why not include in your plan, how you were going to evade security, spray paint your “message” on the grounds, and finally and most importantly; just how you were going to escape.

Not much thought about how you are going to bicycle 478 miles back to Kettering, Ohio…either, but what the hell…you will have plenty of time to work out all the wrinkles in your next exploit, while you cool your butt in Federal Prison.

Just think, maybe while you are in Prison, some inmate with the name of Bubba, will invite you to a tea-bag party.  It would be the perfect conclusion to the overall “Revolutionary” theme that you have going.
